HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. It offers better compression than JPG, meaning smaller file sizes with the same quality. However, not all devices and software can open HEIC files.
Windows and many older applications do not natively support HEIC. You need either a HEIC codec/extension installed or to convert the files to a universal format like JPG. macOS supports HEIC natively through Preview.
Go to Settings > Camera > Formats and select 'Most Compatible' instead of 'High Efficiency'. This will make your iPhone save photos as JPG instead of HEIC. Note that JPG files will be larger.
We are working on adding browser-based HEIC conversion. In the meantime, you can convert HEIC files using Preview on macOS (File > Export > JPEG) or the Photos app on Windows, then upload the JPG here for further conversion.
Yes! While HEIC support is coming soon, you can already convert between JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG, and more. Simply upload your images and select the desired output format.
